Professor of Swiss and International Tax Law at the University of Geneva. From 2016, he started a research on the taxation of robots and their activities. In this context, he has published a book “Taxing Robot. Helping the economy to Adapt to the Use of Artificial Intelligence” Edward Elgar Publishing, London 2019. The emulation engendered by this topic allowed Xavier Oberson to be chosen for the famous opening lesson of the spring semester 2017 of the University of Geneva
Professor Oberson also practices as an attorney-at-law, partner of Oberson Abels SA, in Geneva.
He is active in various associations, expert committees and foundations. In addition, he is member of the Board of the Montreux Jazz Festival, President of the Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation and of the “Centre d’Art Contemporain” (Contemporary Art Center) in Geneva.
